How to solve the "too many documents" problem.

Uncategorized Feb 20, 2019

If you're someone who has been putting off implementing an ISO management system in your organization because you're already swamped with other projects and/or you've got too much on your plate, and the thought of producing more documented policies and procedures gives you chills, then this video will give you 5 practical tips you can use to reduce the stress and anxiety of what documents you need for an ISO management system.

What documents do you have?

Let's begin here, what have you already created and what portion of that do you actually use. Now obviously you have all different types of stakeholder requirements and legal obligations, but aside from those, what written policies and procedures do you keep hidden away in a manual somewhere.

It's important to understand that the ISO management systems never tell you to write policies and procedures but says; "ensure it is available and suitable for use, where and when it is needed".

So what does that mean? It means that if you've been producing and storing documents for the sake of producing documents, then stop. Ask yourself why, why am I producing this document and more importantly, is there a better way for me to communicate what I'm trying to use this document for?

Going forward.

In thinking about the future of what documents you need to create and store, ask yourself; who is it for, why am I creating it, am I required to have it, and is there a better way I can communicate it. Those questions will give you a filter as to what you need to create for your management systems and hopefully reduce the anxiety of having to produce unnecessary documented policies and procedures.
